Genie Video Wins 2006 Create Award

REDMOND, WASH. (October 20, 2006) – Genie Industries, a world leader in the manufacture of aerial lifting equipment, along with creative partner Eyeplay, Inc. (www.eyeplay.tv), a video production company based in Seattle, Wash., recently won the Gold Award from the 2006 Create Awards for Genie’s "Out of the Blue" mockumentary.

“Out of the Blue”, a video featuring Genie’s flagship boom lift, the Z-135/70, was developed for the American Rental Association’s The Rental Show event in February 2006.

In producing the video, Eyeplay was faced with a unique challenge: how to create a video showcasing Genie’s state-of-the-art boom lift that would stand out on a crowded convention floor. Eyeplay’s answer: turn the Z-135/70 into an urban legend. Eyeplay’s creative team produced a humorous 3.5 minute trailer for a faux science documentary, “(It Came From) Out of the Blue!” The documentary searches for the facts behind ‘The Legend of Z-135/70,’ the highest of high booms.

“Out of the Blue” combines cinema-style, high definition imagery, a dramatic soundtrack and a few tongue-in-cheek nods to iconic films and genres. To view the video, visit the Spotlight section of Genie’s website.

With over 300 categories across eight industries, The Create Awards is the top competition for working creative professionals across the nation.
